Job OverviewPosition Summary

The Site Operations Supervisor will guide the designated location in achieving financial and operational objectives, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality standards. This role is essential in ensuring the effective use of resources, operational efficiency, and cost-effectiveness within the site. Key responsibilities include leading the production workforce and managing overall site operations, which encompass safety, environmental compliance, quality assurance, production metrics, financial targets, employee training, and client relations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee all facets of daily operations with a focus on Safety, Environmental standards, Quality assurance, and Production efficiency.
  • Ensure that customer expectations are met, a secure working environment is maintained, and profitability is achieved to provide value to stakeholders.
  • Propose enhancements to improve operational methods, performance metrics, and product/service quality, while recommending adjustments to working conditions to boost efficiency.
  • Coordinate and supervise the activities of the site production team.
  • Establish or modify work schedules to align with customer demand.
  • Compile and maintain reports and records for management, including updating Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) in the reporting system.
  • Ensure adherence to company-wide initiatives, policies, and practices; interpret and communicate these policies to team members while enforcing compliance.
  • Verify that timekeeping records are accurately entered and approved for all team members under supervision.
  • Promote safety practices at the site and actively engage in enhancing the safety culture.
  • Collaborate with the General Manager and Recruiting team to recommend or initiate staffing decisions, including hiring, performance evaluations, scheduling, and terminations.
  • Utilize hands-on leadership to foster team development, including onboarding and training new personnel.
  • Ensure that the team complies with FRA/AAR/Cathcart quality and operational standards while meeting customer specifications.
  • Maintain regular communication with the General Manager to ensure operational goals are achieved.
  • Perform additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Business degree or relevant certifications, or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of supervisory experience in the rail sector.
  • Proven ability to engage effectively at all organizational levels and support customer relations.
  • Strategic mindset with the capability to translate strategies into actionable operational objectives.
  • Strong analytical abilities, self-driven, and a collaborative team player.
  • Goal-oriented with a robust customer service focus.
  • Proficient in standard office software, including databases, word processing, ERP, and reporting tools.
  • General understanding of railcar repair and train operation protocols.
  • Familiarity with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and Association of American Railroads (AAR) regulations.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong listening abilities.
  • Capability to identify problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to articulate thoughts clearly and concisely.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, enabling effective collaboration with individuals at all levels of the organization.
