The Operations Supervisor will guide the designated site in achieving financial and operational objectives, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality standards. This role is pivotal in ensuring the effective use of resources, enhancing efficiency, and maintaining cost-effectiveness in site operations. Key responsibilities include leading the production team and managing overall operations, which encompass safety, environmental compliance, quality assurance, production management, financial targets, training, and client relations.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee all facets of daily operations, focusing on Safety, Environmental standards, Quality, and Production efficiency.
- Ensure that customer expectations are met, a secure working environment is maintained, and profitability is achieved to benefit stakeholders.
- Propose improvements to enhance methods, performance, and service quality, while recommending changes to working conditions to boost efficiency.
- Coordinate the activities of the site production team effectively.
- Adjust work schedules to align with customer demand.
- Compile and maintain reports and records for management, including updating Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
- Ensure compliance with company-wide initiatives, policies, and practices; interpret and communicate these policies to staff while enforcing adherence.
- Accurately manage time card entries for all employees under supervision, ensuring timely approvals.
- Promote adherence to safety protocols at the site and actively contribute to enhancing the safety culture.
- Collaborate with management and recruitment teams to recommend staffing decisions, including hiring, performance evaluations, scheduling, and terminations.
- Utilize hands-on leadership to foster team development, including training for new hires.
- Ensure the team complies with industry quality and operational standards while meeting customer specifications.
- Maintain regular communication with management to ensure objectives are achieved.
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.
Essential Qualifications
- Degree in Business or relevant certifications, or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience in the rail sector.
- Proven ability to engage effectively with all organizational levels and support customer relations.
- Strategic mindset with the capability to translate strategies into actionable operational goals.
- Strong analytical skills, self-driven, and a commitment to teamwork.
- Goal-oriented with a robust customer service focus.
- Proficient in standard office technology, including databases, word processing, ERP, and reporting systems.
- General understanding of railcar repair and train operation protocols.
- Familiarity with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and Association of American Railroads (AAR) regulations.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong listening abilities.
- Capability to identify problems, gather data, establish facts, and draw logical conclusions.
- Strong interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with individuals at all organizational levels.
