Position SummaryThe Operations Supervisor will be responsible for directing the designated site as the team collaborates to achieve financial and operational objectives, with a strong emphasis on safety and quality standards. This role aims to ensure optimal utilization, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness of site operations.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee all facets of daily operations focusing on Safety, Environmental standards, Quality, and Production metrics.
- Ensure that customer expectations are met, a secure working environment is maintained, and profitability is achieved to provide value to stakeholders.
- Propose enhancements to improve operational methods, performance, and product quality, while recommending changes to working conditions to boost efficiency.
- Supervise and coordinate the activities of the site production personnel.
- Adjust work schedules to align with customer demand.
- Compile and maintain reports and records for management, including updating key performance indicators in relevant systems.
- Ensure compliance with company-wide initiatives, policies, and practices; interpret and communicate these policies to staff and enforce adherence.
- Manage the accurate and timely entry of time cards for all team members under supervision, including necessary approvals.
- Promote adherence to safety protocols at the site and actively contribute to enhancing the safety culture.
- Collaborate with upper management and recruitment teams to recommend or initiate staffing decisions, including hiring and performance evaluations.
- Utilize hands-on leadership to foster team development, including the training of new staff members.
- Ensure compliance with quality and operational standards as set by relevant regulatory bodies while meeting customer specifications.
- Maintain regular communication with upper management to ensure operational goals are met.
- Undertake additional projects and responsibilities as assigned.
- Degree in Business or relevant certifications, or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of supervisory experience in the rail sector.
- Proven ability to engage effectively with individuals at all organizational levels and support customer relations.
- Strategic mindset with the capability to translate strategies into actionable operational objectives.
- Strong analytical skills, self-driven, and a team-oriented approach.
- Goal-focused with a robust customer service orientation.
- Proficient in standard office technology, including databases, word processing, ERP, and reporting systems.
- General understanding of railcar repair and train operation protocols.
- Familiarity with Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) and Association of American Railroads (AAR) regulations.
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong listening abilities.
- Capable of identifying problems, gathering data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.
- Strong interpersonal skills to work effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
