Position Overview

This role is pivotal in facilitating analytical initiatives across various projects within the organization. The primary focus is on utilizing databases to gather client and performance metrics, converting the extracted information into actionable insights and trends, and presenting these findings to leadership for informed decision-making. The position requires collaboration with business partners to comprehend, coordinate, and fulfill agreed-upon objectives while effectively communicating complex data results and providing necessary summaries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assists in data extraction using diverse programming languages, including SQL, SAS, Python, or Spark/Scala, while applying expertise in both relational and non-relational database systems across hybrid platforms.
  • Integrates data from multiple sources and performs essential transformations, leveraging technical, business, and procedural knowledge to derive meaningful insights.
  • Conducts quantitative analyses on customer, transaction, and performance data under the guidance of senior analysts, addressing inquiries from business partners and delivering actionable insights.
  • Adheres to specifications developed by senior analysts to conduct necessary research, analytics, and exploration on suitable data sources to ensure accurate deliverables.
  • Simplifies complex topics for both technical and non-technical stakeholders using tools such as PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Tableau.
  • Aids in performing quality assurance checks on analytical outputs and escalates any discrepancies or issues to management.
  • Complies with quality workflow processes and documentation standards to ensure business continuity.

Department Specific Information:

This position will engage with the Consumer and Small Business Anti-Money Laundering team to evaluate their data, processes, and technologies, supporting strategic data initiatives and addressing deficiencies while driving business requirements.

The analyst will develop a comprehensive understanding of data domains, supporting systems, data governance, and financial services risk management principles.

The analyst will ensure quality and consistency by utilizing standardized templates, tools, and design practices to enhance deliverables and maintain uniformity across business lines.

The analyst will ultimately document the comprehensive data lineage ecosystem for Consumer and Small Business Anti-Money Laundering.

Collaboration and Documentation:

The analyst will work closely with the Data Lineage Leader to:

  • Consult with data stewards, process owners, subject matter experts, technical specialists, end users, and other stakeholders to gather insights on current and target state business processes, data attributes, and necessary system interfaces.
  • Document and define processes, data models, quality controls, data lineage, and data dictionaries using industry-standard methodologies.
  • Analyze information from various sources, resolve conflicts, and synthesize high-level information into detailed insights.
  • Identify deficiencies against internal policies and industry best practices, providing formal recommendations for remediation.
  • Collaborate with technology teams and key stakeholders to drive solutions that enhance operational excellence and address metadata and control environment challenges.
  • Review and provide feedback on technical solution designs from a business perspective and suggest alternatives.
  • Effectively communicate plans, progress, and risks to stakeholders and sponsors.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in business, computer science, systems analysis, information systems, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage tight deadlines and adapt to changing requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self-motivated with a strong sense of ownership and accountability in high-pressure environments.
  • Familiarity with Consumer & Small Business Banking.
  • Understanding of SQL programming.
  • Experience with databases and file systems, such as Oracle and Hadoop.
  • Proven ability to work with compliance and audit teams to establish a robust program.
  • Knowledge of Risk Management and Data Management Principles.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience with lineage software such as Collibra.
  • Project and issue management experience.
  • Understanding of enterprise architecture designs.
  • Experience with Python programming.
  • Expertise in financial services.
  • Subject matter expertise in Bank Secrecy Act/Anti-Money Laundering and Sanctions.
