Key Responsibilities and Qualifications

Responsibilities:

  • Interpret medication orders accurately and evaluate patient profiles.
  • Procure, prepare, label, distribute, and secure medications as required.
  • Document clinical interventions and assist in staff training.
  • Maintain awareness of hospital policies and regulations.
  • Implement departmental goals and procedures effectively.
  • Manage professional practice, including ethics and ongoing education.
  • Support the management team and contribute to pharmacist training initiatives.
  • Coordinate the delivery of pharmaceutical care to designated areas.
  • Supervise and mentor pharmacy technician staff.
  • Stay informed about automated dispensing systems and software.
  • Provide education on medication therapy and related procedures as necessary.
  • Retrieve, analyze, and disseminate accurate drug information.
  • Oversee storage, preparation, and dispensing systems.
  • Safely compound and dispense medications as needed.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders throughout the medication use process.
  • Plan, organize, and enhance work activities for efficiency.
  • Assist with quality improvement efforts and inventory management.
  • Utilize knowledge of age-specific patient needs in practice.
  • Adhere to Standard Precautions and comply with required training and vaccinations.
  • Perform additional assigned duties, including monthly inspections and extra staffing hours.

Qualifications:

  • BS or Pharm.D. degree from an accredited College of Pharmacy.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration within the team.
  • Active state licensure as a Pharmacist in Tennessee.
  • Preferably completed a PGY-1 pharmacy practice residency or possess three years of hospital pharmacy experience.
  • BLS and ACLS certifications required within three months of employment.
