Position Summary

This part-time (0.5 FTE) role is designed for the upcoming school year. The MTSS (Multi-Tiered Systems of Support) Educational Support Coach will collaborate with teaching teams and individual educators to assess student learning metrics, evaluate student work, guide teams in reflective practices, and share effective strategies for enhancing student achievement. The primary focus will be on universal Tier I instructional support across the educational institution.

Key Responsibilities:
The following duties and responsibilities are not exhaustive. Employees in this role may perform some or all of the tasks listed below, with additional duties assigned as necessary.

  1. Exhibit a comprehensive understanding of MTSS and evidence-based interventions across Tiers 1, 2, and 3. Demonstrate and coach teams/staff on effective intervention strategies to enhance engagement in literacy and mathematics, emphasizing the development of support systems and the implementation of recent adoptions.
  2. Collaborate with district and school teams to provide ongoing professional development focused on culturally responsive, trauma-informed interventions and universal supports.
  3. Engage actively in the building MTSS team.
  4. Coach school teams on utilizing data to inform instructional practices and research-based interventions.
  5. Stay updated on current research regarding best practices in consultation and coaching.
  6. Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff, ensuring active listening and comprehension of exchanged information.
  7. Participate in various professional meetings, workshops, and committees to convey and gather information essential for fulfilling the role's functions while remaining knowledgeable about best practices and district guidelines.
  8. Demonstrate leadership capabilities, including facilitating groups of adult learners, fostering relationships with staff, and managing conflict resolution when necessary.
  9. Support educators through a coaching model that emphasizes co-planning, modeling, co-teaching, and feedback, implementing diverse assessment strategies.
  10. Prioritize actionable next steps with educators, utilizing the district-approved coaching framework.
  11. Model and/or co-teach lessons targeting specific skills and objectives.
  12. Provide personalized professional development and ongoing coaching to educators to achieve school and district goals through an inquiry cycle.
  13. Engage in continuous professional development and coaching through a 'trainer of trainers' model.
  14. Collaborate regularly with fellow Instructional Coaches.
  15. Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential records as mandated by federal and state law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
  16. Adhere to district and school policies, procedures, rules, and regulations, exercising professional judgment in the absence of specific guidelines.
  17. Safeguard the confidentiality of information related to students, families, colleagues, or district patrons, using or sharing personal information solely in the course of assigned responsibilities.
  18. Foster positive and effective working relationships with department staff, students, school personnel, and community members from diverse backgrounds.
  19. Ensure regular and punctual attendance.
  20. Perform additional duties as assigned.

Position Specific Skills and Abilities:
  1. Strong knowledge and experience with newly adopted curriculum(s).

Minimum Qualifications:
Education and Licensure:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education or a closely related field; and,
  • Valid Oregon teacher's license with appropriate grade level/subject endorsement.
Experience:
  • Four (4) years of classroom experience (preferred) demonstrating the skills outlined above.
  • An equivalent combination of education and/or experience totaling seven (7) years will be evaluated, with no substitutions for licensure.

Equivalency to the education and experience outlined above will also be considered.
