Position Summary

This is a full-time position focused on the educational needs of students requiring special assistance. The selected candidate will engage in collaborative efforts with educational staff to design, implement, and adapt instructional programs tailored to the unique requirements of students. A significant emphasis will be placed on fostering a constructive learning atmosphere that encourages achievement for all learners, taking into account their individual backgrounds and developmental stages.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Demonstrate effective communication and collaboration with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds, promoting a respectful educational environment.
  2. Employ proactive behavioral management techniques across various educational settings.
  3. Lead functional assessments and collaboratively develop Behavior Support Plans with student involvement.
  4. Utilize data-driven instructional strategies to inform teaching practices.
  5. Modify standard curriculum to meet individual student needs.
  6. Implement personalized educational plans (IEP/504/TAG).
  7. Participate in Support Services Team meetings and contribute to staff discussions.
  8. Design and adapt academic and behavioral programs in alignment with district and state standards.
  9. Facilitate transition curriculum and activities for students.
  10. Collaborate effectively with a diverse range of students, staff, and community members.
  11. Work alongside other educational professionals to address the academic and behavioral needs of students.
  12. Respond constructively to feedback from colleagues and administrators to enhance service delivery.
  13. Assist in identifying students with disabilities.
  14. Maintain ongoing communication with parents and guardians regarding student progress.
  15. Support the administration in enforcing policies related to student conduct and maintaining a positive classroom environment.
  16. Foster open communication with students and families about academic and behavioral development.
  17. Engage in continuous professional development through workshops, seminars, and educational activities.
  18. Collaborate with fellow special education teachers to meet student needs effectively.
  19. Administer assessments and analyze data to track student progress.
  20. Manage time efficiently to complete necessary documentation.
  21. Monitor student progress across all educational settings.
  22. Design and provide guidance for educational assistants, facilitating problem-solving as needed.
  23. Oversee fiscal responsibilities and documentation for program activities.
  24. Utilize technology effectively to manage student programs.
  25. Anticipate program needs and coordinate implementation strategies.
  26. Perform additional duties as assigned by the Educational Support Services Administrator.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Experience in differentiating educational practices for diverse populations.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with a wide range of students, staff, and community members.
  • A minimum of four years of relevant experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience totaling seven years will be considered.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Valid Oregon teacher's certificate with a Special Education Endorsement.
  • Preferred ESOL endorsements.
  • Demonstrated multicultural experience and cultural competency.
  • Bilingual proficiency and/or multicultural experience is strongly preferred.
  • Certification in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification.
  • Master's degree in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field.
