Established in 2003, St. HOPE Public Schools is dedicated to the mission of cultivating self-driven, industrious, and critically-minded leaders who are committed to community service, enthusiastic about lifelong learning, and prepared to pursue higher education. Our organization encompasses three charter institutions: PS7 Elementary School, PS7 Middle School, and Sacramento Charter High School, all situated in the Oak Park area of Sacramento.

We have set high standards, and our educational institutions are achieving remarkable outcomes by bridging the achievement gap and enabling our students to realize their maximum potential. Our student demographics include a significantly higher proportion of minority and low-income students, yet our state assessment scores surpass district averages. Notable achievements include:

  • Sacramento Charter High School was acknowledged by the California Charter Schools Association (CCSA) as the top-performing high school for black students in California.
  • PS7 and Sacramento Charter High School were recognized as California Education Champions by the National Action Network for being among 16 predominantly African American schools that excelled in the top 25% of all California schools, each scoring a perfect 10/10 compared to similar institutions.
  • PS7 has received the Title 1 Achievement Award twice and has been honored as a California Distinguished School and a federal Blue Ribbon School nominee for its outstanding results with low-income students.
  • In 2020, 93% of Sac High scholars were accepted into four-year colleges, and we proudly maintain one of the highest rates of admissions to UCs and CSUs in the Sacramento region, with 100% of our scholars graduating meeting UC/CSU requirements.

At St. HOPE Public Schools, we believe in the transformative power of effective teaching and recognize that three consecutive years of excellent instruction can significantly mitigate the achievement gap faced by low-income students. We invest time in planning curricula that transition smoothly across grades and foster a collaborative environment with consistent expectations and support across campuses.

  • At PS7 Middle School, our results demonstrate the impact of three years of quality teaching. Our 6th graders enter with only 9% on or above grade level in math, compared to the district average of 25%. After three years at PS7 Middle, that same cohort promotes from 8th grade with 48% on or above grade level in math, surpassing the district average of 32%.

Beyond academic excellence, we emphasize a positive school culture. We organize numerous engaging events for students and families throughout the academic year, providing a well-rounded experience with a wider array of elective courses than traditional schools. We value our educators and offer comprehensive coaching and support plans to develop them into exceptional teachers. Their daily contributions are vital to creating a successful learning environment for our students.

St. HOPE is also a network of nonprofits dedicated to economic development and revitalization. One of our flagship projects is the 40 Acres Art and Culture Center, which opened in 2003 after refurbishing the old Guild Theater and Woodruff Hotel buildings.

Role Summary

The Head Coach is primarily responsible for the leadership, management, organization, and development of the girls soccer team. This role includes supervising assistant coaches and collaborating with the Principal and Athletic Director to implement a program that aligns with the vision and expectations for student-athletes.

Supervision Structure

The Head Coach reports directly to the Principal and Athletic Director.

Coaching Standards

  • Exhibit professionalism and respect towards all teams and officials.
  • Promote exemplary sportsmanship.
  • Ensure the safety and development of all athletes.
  • Maintain a professional appearance at all times.
  • Encourage participation from all athletes.
  • Ensure equipment and facilities meet safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

The Head Coach is accountable for ensuring that varsity student-athletes adhere to the athletic department's vision and expectations. Specific duties include:

  • Reporting the complete player roster prior to the first official practice.
  • Completing all necessary coaching certifications.
  • Managing equipment distribution and collection.
  • Coordinating facility use and practice schedules.
  • Conducting meetings with parents and athletes before the season.
  • Maintaining communication with the Principal and Athletic Director regarding team operations.

Game Management

The Head Coach is responsible for ensuring the team is well-prepared for competitions, including:

  • Coordinating transportation and tournament participation.
  • Managing budgets and award ceremonies.
  • Ensuring compliance with all regulations and guidelines.
