Position Overview

This role will be guided and overseen by a General Manager. The main duties for this position will concentrate on routine operational responsibilities and overseeing team members in their operational roles. Additional tasks may be assigned as necessary by the business and/or for professional development. Ensure guest satisfaction and the smooth operation of the hotel by managing the back of the house departments in the absence of the General Manager. This individual may assist the General Manager by maintaining a focus on achieving hotel profitability through revenue enhancement, cost management, guest satisfaction, and associate development. Exempt associates are expected to work as much of each workday as is necessary to fulfill their job responsibilities. The Operations Supervisor may support various areas at the property including Housekeeping, Engineering/Maintenance, Food & Beverage, PBX, Bell staff, Front Office, and Banquets. Exempt managers and supervisors must customarily and regularly direct the work of at least three full-time associates or their equivalents. Primary duties must consist of administrative, executive, or professional tasks more than 50% of the time and job duties must also involve the use of discretion and independent judgment more than 50% of the time.

Pay: $58,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year

Qualifications

Education and Experience
  • Minimum one year of progressive experience in the Rooms Division of a hotel; or a four-year college degree with at least one year of experience in the Rooms Division at a hotel; or a two-year college degree with at least two years of experience in the Rooms Division at a hotel.
  • Prior supervisory experience is essential.
  • Proficiency in Windows Operating Systems is required.
  • Ability to quickly and accurately evaluate and select among alternative courses of action.
  • Ability to perform well in stressful, high-pressure situations.
  • Maintain composure and objectivity under pressure.
  • Effectively handle workplace problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and resolving issues as necessary.
  • Ability to assimilate complex information and data from various sources and adjust or modify to meet specific needs.
  • Effective listening, understanding, clarifying, and resolving concerns raised by coworkers and guests.
  • Ability to work with and understand financial information and data, including basic arithmetic functions.
  • Clear communication of information and ideas is essential.
Key Responsibilities
  • Approach all interactions with guests and employees in a friendly, courteous, and service-oriented manner.
  • Maintain regular attendance in compliance with company standards, as required by scheduling.
  • Uphold high standards of personal appearance and grooming, including compliance with the company's dress code.
  • Ensure adherence to company standards and regulations to promote safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Comply with certification requirements as applicable for the position.
  • In the absence of the General Manager, ensure the efficient operation of the hotel by supervising and supporting the Engineering and Housekeeping departments.
  • Assist in creating an environment where employees feel empowered to make decisions that enhance guest satisfaction.
  • Assist the General Manager with the creation of financial reports as required by the Corporate Office.
  • Participate in required management coverage as scheduled.
  • Ensure training in service standards is occurring in each department.
  • Assist in recruiting, hiring, and training for Guest Services based on occupancy needs.
  • Participate in weekly meetings with Front Desk to address oversell settings and respond accordingly.
  • Foster a positive team-oriented environment focused on guest satisfaction through employee development and motivation.
  • Assist the General Manager in maintaining compliance with Preventative Maintenance and Deep Cleaning Programs.
  • Ensure that employees are consistently attentive, friendly, courteous, and efficient in their interactions.
  • Be familiar with Standard Operating Procedures in all Operations departments.
  • Maintain professional relationships and promote open communication with managers, employees, and other departments.
  • Ensure fair and equitable treatment of all employees according to company policies.
  • Complete required corporate training modules and become certified to train others as necessary.
  • Be present in public areas during peak times to greet guests and offer assistance.
  • Maintain procedures for handling hotel safe security.
  • Attend all scheduled meetings that take place on the property when you are scheduled.
  • Weekend availability is required.
