Position Overview

The Fixed Income Global Rates Analyst plays a crucial role in supporting the Fixed Income Portfolio Managers. This position involves comprehensive analysis of both domestic and international rates portfolios. The successful candidate will engage in extensive country and regional research to identify relative value and recommend total return opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct fundamental analysis of global rate markets and foreign exchange.
  • Provide daily reviews of portfolio risk, performance, and attribution.
  • Monitor the new issue market and perform relative value analysis of bonds for acquisition.
  • Maintain analytical tools and generate periodic reports.
  • Oversee the portfolio's foreign exchange hedging program.

Principal Duties
  • Stay informed about fundamental economic developments and factors influencing interest rates globally to assist in investment decisions.
  • Analyze securities markets through credit and relative value assessments, contributing insights on investment strategies and securities.
  • Maintain a sovereign risk scorecard and various existing relative value models and optimization tools.
  • Develop new models and trading ideas to enhance portfolio value.
  • Monitor foreign exchange exposure within the Global portfolio and manage FX hedging transactions.
  • Produce standard and ad hoc reports as necessary.
  • Assist Portfolio Managers with additional tasks as required.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, quantitative finance, economics, or a related scientific discipline.
  • Proficiency in fixed-income analytics with the ability to apply concepts to resolve practical portfolio challenges.
  • Exceptional technical skills; experience with programming languages such as Python, VBA, or MATLAB is highly desirable.
  • Strong self-motivation and attention to detail, with the ability to work accurately under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
  • Aptitude for gathering relevant information promptly and making sound decisions quickly.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Solid understanding of sovereign economic fundamentals and investment-grade sovereign bond and foreign exchange markets.
  • Two or more years of relevant work experience.
  • Advanced degrees such as an MBA, MS in finance, or CFA designation.
  • Exceptional analytical and quantitative abilities.
  • Interest in learning programming languages like Python, VBA, or MATLAB.
  • Familiarity with BlackRock Aladdin or Barclays Point.
