Position Overview:

We are in search of a seasoned and proactive Senior Tax Manager to enhance our global tax operations. This role is crucial for ensuring the precise and timely calculation and reporting of all tax-related financial data, adhering to SEC, ASC 740, and other regulatory standards. The Senior Tax Manager will significantly influence the expansion of Confluent's global tax compliance and operations.

The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in tax with a minimum of 7 years of experience in large multinational publicly traded companies, ideally with Big 4 experience. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage effectively with individuals at all organizational levels are essential. Experience in an enterprise software environment is advantageous.

Given the dynamic and rapidly evolving nature of the organization, the candidate must be detail-oriented, exhibit strong organizational and communication abilities, and be prepared to take on various tasks as needed.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the quarterly and annual income tax provision process in line with ASC 740, including UTP documentation and related tax disclosures in SEC filings.
  2. Manage the compliance function, including the consolidated US federal income tax return and state and local tax returns.
  3. Collaborate cross-functionally with Accounting, FP&A, and Treasury on all tax-related issues and financial reporting.
  4. Assist in managing indirect taxes, such as sales and use tax, VAT/GST, and other transaction-based taxes.
  5. Work with external auditors to ensure compliant income tax reporting and efficient financial statement close processes.
  6. Participate in special projects, including tax planning, mergers and acquisitions, provision forecasting, and identifying process efficiencies.

Qualifications:

  • 7+ years of experience in tax operations, with a preference for experience in Big 4 and publicly held multinational firms.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance, along with a professional designation such as CPA or MST.
  • Experience in an enterprise software or SaaS environment is a plus.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of corporate tax operations, standards, and governance.
  • In-depth understanding of ASC 740 and relevant accounting standards.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Proven capability to research complex tax issues and propose effective solutions.
  • Strategic thinker with strong leadership abilities, capable of prioritizing multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
