Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated professional to join our team as an Intake and Diversion Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for assessing youth, managing crisis situations, and providing case management, supervision, and support to juveniles and families involved in the juvenile justice system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Attend court hearings and provide consultation, information, and recommendations to the court.
  • Screen incoming referrals to determine the most appropriate course of action and implement the least restrictive measure needed to address the referral.
  • Conduct assessments and collect collateral information to form a summary and risk assessment, and make recommendations accordingly.
  • Provide clients with a clear explanation of the court process and maintain positive working relationships with juveniles and families of diverse backgrounds.
  • Maintain client files, including selected hold open, adjudicated, waiver, diversion, and OVI cases.
  • Meet with families to discuss alternatives to filing an official complaint with Juvenile Court and provide incentives, expectations, and consequences for youth on various levels of supervision.
  • Administer drug and alcohol screenings/tests and prepare samples for the lab.
  • Work with parents to establish positive parenting skills and with youth to promote positive behavior change.
  • Provide crisis intervention for clients by assessing their situation and directing them to suitable solutions or providing appropriate referrals.
  • Handle detention hearings for new and existing youth entering the Juvenile Court.
  • Participate in and monitor groups, positive activities, and programs as needed.
  • Monitor youth in holding cells and provide transportation as necessary.
  • Use evidence-based practices to promote positive behavior change for juveniles involved in the juvenile justice system.
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with juveniles, families, community partners, and law enforcement.
  • Respond to calls from law enforcement personnel/agencies and participate in the on-call rotation.
  • Document and maintain accurate and updated records using appropriate case management systems and databases.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Sociology, Criminal Justice, Counseling, Psychology, Education, or a related field.
  • Related training and four (4) years of experience working with at-risk youth.
  • Valid Ohio driver's license.
  • Flexible work schedule and availability outside normal business hours.
