Regional Wastewater Facility Operations Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Wastewater Facility Operator II to join our team at the County of Delaware, OH. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for the proper operation of our treatment facilities and package plants, ensuring the discharge of high-quality effluent and conducting laboratory testing to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities- Operate and maintain complex laboratory equipment, including microscopes and analytical instruments.
- Conduct routine inspections of treatment facilities and perform routine analysis using approved standard operating procedures.
- Monitor facility operations and report abnormalities or problems to supervisors or on-call personnel.
- Calibrate, operate, and maintain complex laboratory equipment, including microscopes and analytical instruments.
- Identify and classify aquatic organisms using a microscope.
- Collect and deliver samples to various laboratories as needed, managing chain of custody reports.
- Perform field testing for treatment facility operations, including pH, chlorine residual, dissolved oxygen, alkalinity, ammonia, nitrates, phosphorus, aeration tank concentrations, and return sludge concentration.
- Perform routine and corrective repairs, as well as take preventative measures to protect equipment.
- Responsible for various forms of data entry, logging, and other forms of record keeping, including data entry into regulatory databases.
- Clean and maintain specific areas of the facility as assigned.
- May be assigned to serve as the operator of record or backup as required, with appropriate licensure.
- Attend various training sessions, video conferences, and workshops to stay up-to-date on industry best practices.
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
- A valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record is required, and a Commercial Driver's License class B with necessary endorsements is preferred.
- Must meet and maintain qualifications for driving on County business at all times, including insurability.
- An OEPA Class II Wastewater Operator certificate is required, and Class I Operators may be considered.
- All required licenses and certificates must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.
