We are seeking a skilled Regional Wastewater Operations Specialist to join our team at the County of Delaware, OH. This is a full-time position that requires a high level of expertise in wastewater treatment operations.



Job Summary

The Regional Wastewater Operations Specialist will be responsible for the proper operation of the treatment facility and various package plants. This includes discharging quality effluent flow, conducting laboratory testing to ensure quality, and reporting any problems as needed.



Responsibilities


  • Operations Management: Demonstrate regular and predictable attendance, conduct routine inspections of treatment facilities, and perform routine analysis using approved standard operating procedures and record data on samples.
  • Laboratory Testing: Calibrate, operate, and maintain complex laboratory equipment, identify and classify aquatic organisms with a microscope, and conduct laboratory testing procedures to determine the condition of biomass and assist with calculations of quantity of waste.
  • Field Testing: Perform field testing for treatment facilities, including pH, chlorine residual, dissolved oxygen, alkalinity, ammonia, nitrates, phosphorus, aeration tank concentrations, and return sludge concentration.
  • Maintenance and Repair: Perform routine and corrective repairs, take preventative measures to protect equipment, and perform routine grounds maintenance.
  • Data Entry and Record Keeping: Responsible for various forms of data entry, logging, and other forms of record keeping, including records of regulatory data.
  • Confidentiality: Hold all aspects of the job confidential.
  • Additional Responsibilities: May be assigned to serve as the operator of record or backup as required, work overtime and outside of typical work schedule/business hours as required, and attend various training sessions, video conferences, and workshops.


Requirements


  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • A valid Ohio Driver's License with an acceptable driving record is required. A Commercial Driver's License class B with necessary endorsements is preferred.
  • Must meet and maintain qualifications for driving on County business at all times, including insurability.
  • An OEPA Class I Wastewater Operator certificate is required. Class II is preferred.
  • All required licenses and certificates must be maintained as a condition of continued employment.

The salary for this position is estimated to be around $24.47 per hour, based on the job description and location.
