Position Summary: We are seeking an experienced Human Resources Manager to take on a pivotal role within our team.
Industry: Legal
Work Environment: This position is based in Downtown Chicago and requires a hybrid work schedule (3 days in the office and 2 days remote).
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement innovative HR strategies and initiatives.
- Create and manage job descriptions and reports.
- Oversee the recruitment and onboarding processes for both attorney and staff positions.
- Act as the primary contact for staffing and recruiting agencies.
- Research and analyze trends in employee benefits and compensation, providing recommendations to attract and retain top talent.
- Administer and manage employee benefits programs.
- Evaluate and negotiate benefit contract bids.
- Lead educational sessions related to benefits.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant employment laws at the federal, state, and city levels.
- Implement best practices and process improvements within the HR function.
- Develop new HR policies and update the employee handbook as necessary.
- Supervise payroll administration, including time entry, PTO, and overtime management.
- Oversee performance evaluations and provide guidance on employee discipline and improvement programs.
- Engage in professional development activities, including workshops and research publications.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree is required.
- Experience in a legal firm is essential.
- Preferred certifications include SHRM or HRCI.
- Must possess a polished, professional demeanor with a friendly approach.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, along with strong conflict resolution abilities.
- Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite and HRIS software (such as UltiPro, LawCruit, ViWave).
- Technologically adept with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
- Strategic thinker with excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Able to delegate effectively, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities efficiently.
- Maintain a high level of confidentiality in all HR matters.
- In-depth knowledge of employment law is required.
