Position Overview

As a Safety Coordinator at Hanra Group, you will play a pivotal role in the planning, coordination, and advisory aspects of our comprehensive safety program. Your engagement with Field Workers, Site Supervisors, and external contractors will be essential in executing our overarching safety strategy and objectives. This position is vital for cultivating a culture of safety awareness, training, and education, and will support management in enhancing safety practices across all levels of the organization.

Key Job Functions

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  • Ability to stand for extended periods, typically 8-10 hours daily.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, stooping, reaching, walking, climbing, pushing, pulling, gripping, carrying, and lifting items up to 50 lbs safely.
  • Regular navigation of stairs and uneven surfaces.
  • Mandatory use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including hard hats, safety shoes, safety glasses, gloves, and high-visibility apparel.
  • Willingness to perform duties in various weather conditions.
  • Capability to follow work instructions from onsite management.
  • Proficient in using tablets, computers, and mobile devices for job-related tasks.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 25% of the time.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Stay informed on federal, state, and local legislation and regulatory changes; maintain awareness of current and emerging safety trends.
  • Collect, investigate, and communicate all incident reports while proposing preventive measures.
  • Distribute, coordinate, and monitor all new and ongoing safety-related programs, certifications, and documentation for project sites.
  • Assist in establishing and achieving safety objectives on assigned project sites.
  • Prepare, submit, and maintain all safety records, ensuring that all team members are current on training and certifications.
  • Foster positive relationships with OSHA personnel, maintaining a history of citations and final decisions, and interpreting OSHA regulations as they pertain to our industry.
  • Communicate relevant safety information to the field regarding best practices, lessons learned, and safety updates.
  • Conduct regular safety analyses on job functions, activities, procedures, equipment, and materials to identify potential hazards and recommend preventive measures.
  • Ensure all safety equipment is inspected, updated, and that proper training on equipment use is provided.
  • Analyze incident data to identify trends in injuries, illnesses, and accidents.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by the Safety Manager or Safety Director.

Required Skills and Knowledge

  • 1-3 years of direct experience in construction safety.
  • Bilingual skills (Spanish & English) are preferred.
  • Knowledge of safety and risk management practices within the construction industry and regulations related to employee safety and accident prevention.
  • Familiarity with local, state, and federal laws governing construction safety.
  • Ability to train, lead teams, motivate, and demonstrate patience during retraining efforts.

  • Present a professional image at all times.
  • Possess a valid driver's license and be able to pass a physical and drug test.
  • Exhibit strong organizational skills and attention to detail, along with proficient verbal and written communication abilities.

Certifications

  • First Aid/CPR certification is preferred and must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
  • CHST certification is preferred.
  • OSHA 500/510 certification is beneficial and required for promotion.
