Position Overview

Role Summary: Sovah Health is seeking a dedicated individual to deliver security services aimed at maintaining a secure environment for both staff and visitors. Key responsibilities include regular patrols, documenting incidents, and assisting medical personnel with challenging patients and visitors.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct proactive surveillance and respond promptly to potential or actual security threats.
  • Investigate and manage all security-related incidents and risks on the premises.
  • Stay informed about and adhere to policies and procedures concerning alarms and emergency preparedness. Organize and facilitate scheduled drills and simulations.
  • Provide assistance and information to patients, staff, and visitors to enhance their safety within the facility.
  • Complete a thorough and precise shift report prior to departure.
  • Assist nursing staff with combative or disruptive patients, including the application of restraints when directed by the Nursing Supervisor.
  • Respond to all emergency assistance requests.
  • Collaborate with Nursing Supervisors to secure and manage patient valuables.
  • Perform safety inspections of designated areas.
  • Conduct fire extinguisher inspections as required.
  • Secure the helipad for helicopter arrivals and departures and prepare a report.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.

Skills: Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently are essential. Candidates must thrive in high-pressure environments and take appropriate actions when necessary. Strong problem-solving skills are required to navigate complex situations, with the ability to communicate events clearly in both verbal and written formats. Candidates should demonstrate tact and respect when handling difficult or potentially dangerous situations. A solid memory and knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, and Joint Commission codes are important, along with basic computer skills.

Physical Requirements: Ability to stand or walk for 95% of a 12-hour shift, tolerate varying weather conditions, and lift up to 75 lbs. Candidates must be able to ascend and descend multiple flights of stairs and work at heights.

Certifications: American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider (BLS) certification is required within 60 days of hire. Completion of a Handle with Care program is required within 90 days of hire.

Licenses: A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are necessary.

Experience: Previous experience in security, safety, law enforcement, or healthcare is preferred.
