Security Specialist II PRN

Role Summary:
Sovah Health is seeking a dedicated individual to deliver security services aimed at maintaining a secure environment for both staff and visitors. Key responsibilities include routine patrolling, documenting incidents that occur during shifts, and assisting medical personnel with challenging patients and visitors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct proactive surveillance and respond promptly to potential or actual security threats.
- Investigate and manage all security-related incidents and risks on the premises.
- Stay informed about and adhere to policies and procedures regarding alarms and emergency preparedness plans, including facilitating scheduled drills and simulations.
- Provide guidance and support to patients, staff, and visitors to enhance their safety on-site.
- Complete a thorough and precise shift report before concluding duties.
- Assist nursing staff with aggressive or disruptive patients, including the application of restraints when directed by the Nursing Supervisor.
- Respond to all emergency assistance requests.
- Collaborate with Nursing Supervisors to secure and manage patient valuables.
- Perform safety inspections of designated areas.
- Conduct fire extinguisher inspections as required.
- Secure the helipad for helicopter arrivals and departures and document the process.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent is required.
Skills: Critical thinking, decisive judgment, and the ability to work independently are essential. Candidates must be capable of handling stressful situations effectively and demonstrate strong problem-solving skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary, along with the ability to manage challenging and potentially dangerous situations with respect and tact. Familiarity with OSHA, NFPA, and Joint Commission codes is preferred, as well as basic computer skills.
Physical requirements include the ability to stand or walk for 95% of a 12-hour shift, tolerate varying weather conditions, lift up to 75 lbs, and navigate multiple flights of stairs.
Certifications: American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider (BLS) certification is required within 60 days of hire. Completion of a Handle with Care program is required within 90 days of hire.
Licenses: A valid driver's license and a clean driving record are mandatory.
Experience: Previous experience in security, safety, law enforcement, or healthcare is preferred.
