Process Engineer

As a Process Engineer, you will play a crucial role within the Operations team, focusing on the creation of innovative strategies and solutions to engineering challenges. Your objective will be to outline the necessary steps or processes for the fabrication and assembly of products that align with the organization's quality and cost standards.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Overseeing project execution (including budget management, scheduling, construction supervision, personnel training, start-up coordination, and compliance with QC/QA, safety, health, environmental, and maintenance protocols) for projects up to $5M or participating as a team member in larger project initiatives.
  • Providing technical expertise to enhance facility safety initiatives during the design and redesign of work processes aimed at minimizing workplace injuries and illnesses.
  • Leading projects valued between $3-5M and managing project contractors and consultants.
  • Designing and executing capital permits, projects, and engineering studies to support operational objectives.
  • Ensuring project management aligns with budgetary constraints while delivering expected returns on investment in accordance with Ingredion's ethical, safety, and engineering standards.
  • Identifying and initiating capital projects with a timeline of one to two years, while contributing to the plant's five-year capital strategy.
  • Verifying that completed projects meet design specifications and ensuring that maintenance, operational, safety, and training documentation is current upon project completion.
  • Monitoring plant processes to optimize the use of manufacturing supplies and utilities.
  • Implementing systems and programs that uphold or surpass quality and production targets while minimizing supply costs.
  • Representing Ingredion operations to third-party agencies and customer auditors.
  • Offering technical support to maintenance and operations teams, including process evaluations, troubleshooting, process optimization, and maintaining historical data to track and control key operational parameters.
  • Driving continuous improvement initiatives within the plant through process optimization, training, and maintaining the technical competencies of the department.
  • Identifying opportunities to enhance operational efficiency, reduce waste, and lower costs.
  • Collaborating with the plant leadership team to formulate strategies for the ongoing enhancement of safety culture and achieving an injury-free workplace.
  • Supporting Ingredion's 2030 Safety and Sustainability initiatives.
  • Implementing the Ingredion Performance System (IPS) reliability objectives by leveraging the management system to adopt and sustain best operating practices, achieving optimal operational performance sustainably.
  • Managing the Change (MOC) program to evaluate environmental, safety, health, quality, and regulatory impacts of facility modifications during planning and post-completion.
  • Staying updated in your field; assessing new technologies and concepts; developing, evaluating, and seeking approval for innovative ideas to enhance process efficiency, facility safety, and product quality.
  • Exhibiting strong interpersonal skills, enabling effective teamwork, consensus building, and relationship fostering across various organizational levels and functions.
Your qualifications should include:
  • A Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical preferred).
  • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing setting is preferred.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of manufacturing processes and systems, including basic chemistry, heat and material balances, P&ID development, mechanical and physical/chemical separations, evaporation, drying, material handling, control systems, GMP, and energy management.
  • Experience in sectors such as food, chemical, biochemical, or pharmaceutical industries, with significant engineering or operations experience preferred.
Essential skills for success:
  • Exceptional communication abilities, with the capacity to present technical information clearly and prepare concise reports, document processes and operational procedures, and complete necessary engineering documentation, including P&ID development for new or modified equipment and processes.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment, resourcefulness, initiative, and innovation in managing complex technical tasks with minimal supervision.
