Job DescriptionPosition Overview:
The Power Systems Technician is responsible for delivering high-quality service, testing, and maintenance of various power transmission and distribution systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct inspections, testing, troubleshooting, and data collection on electrical systems operating at low, medium, and high voltage (up to 500kV).
  • Perform testing and maintenance on switchgear and circuit breakers.
  • Inspect, maintain, and repair transformers and related equipment ranging from 45 KVA to 130 MVA, including both dry type and oil-filled units.
  • Execute maintenance and testing on low voltage (480V) and medium voltage (up to 15KV) circuit breakers.
  • Familiarity with SF6 equipment and gas-insulated switchgear is preferred but not mandatory.
  • Test and inspect cable installations for low and medium voltage.
  • Utilize high voltage testing equipment, including Doble Power Factor test sets.
  • Provide start-up, troubleshooting, and repair services for control systems and transfer schemes.
  • Participate in emergency on-call duties and respond promptly to customer emergencies.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory standards and laws.
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED with a minimum of 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as NETA, NEC, OSHA, and NFPA.
  • Experience with MCCs, breakers, relay testing, oil testing, and infrared scanning is preferred.
  • Military training in related fields is a plus.
  • Ability to work safely and adhere to electrical safety protocols.
  • Strong understanding of electrical theory and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Dependable with good judgment and organizational capabilities.
  • Strong customer service, time management, and follow-up skills.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office and internet research.
  • A valid driver's license is required for positions utilizing a company vehicle.
