The Imaging- and Neuro-computations for Precision Informatics Research (INSPIRE) Lab is a new initiative within the Fischell Department of Bioengineering at the A. James Clark School of Engineering. INSPIRE Lab merges data science with neuroscience, focusing on the modeling and analysis of spatiotemporal brain dynamics to elucidate brain functions and neurological disorders through the utilization of multimodal imaging data.

INSPIRE Lab is strategically located near advanced neuroimaging core facilities and is equipped with high-performance computing resources. Position Overview

This position is for a Research Associate specializing in computational modeling, supported by the NIH Brain Initiative. The role emphasizes the development of statistical, machine learning, and deep learning models, alongside information-theoretic methodologies and other computational tools tailored for neuroimaging data. The selected candidate will spearhead these initiatives while receiving mentorship in research methodologies, scientific communication, conference presentations, manuscript preparation, and grant proposal contributions. Furthermore, the Research Associate will be tasked with mentoring junior researchers and aiding in the upkeep of the lab's computational systems and environment.

The Principal Investigator of INSPIRE Lab is dedicated to offering personalized mentorship aligned with individual aspirations, while actively fostering Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) within the lab. Compensation aligns with NIH postdoctoral standards and includes a comprehensive benefits and retirement package provided by the University. The position is structured as a renewable, annual contract with an expectation of 2-3 years of postdoctoral training.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Electrical & Computer Engineering, Physics, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Publications demonstrating expertise in deep learning and statistical learning models.
  • Proficient coding skills in Python and MATLAB; familiarity with Linux operating systems.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Strong quantitative skills, with comfort in formula derivations.
  • Excellent communication and writing abilities.
