Position Summary: We are seeking an Automation Engineer to join our dynamic team. This role is essential in specifying, designing, and maintaining automation systems and tools to meet operational specifications.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, engineer, and enhance both existing and new automation systems and tools to streamline manufacturing processes.
  • Create technical documentation, including manuals, drawings, models, training materials, maintenance schedules, and troubleshooting guides for automated systems.
  • Understand the operational principles of machinery, including the impact of wear and tear on components and product quality.
  • Ensure optimal machine performance through regular preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Demonstrate a willingness to learn and improve skills across various automation technologies.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement permanent corrective actions.
  • Provide feedback to enhance process and equipment design.
  • Oversee daily departmental activities to maximize equipment efficiency and support production requirements.
  • Coordinate maintenance efforts with engineering and operations teams to ensure seamless departmental function.
  • Collaborate on planning, building, and maintaining the automation framework for new product introductions.
  • Identify and implement changes to enhance the effectiveness of existing automated processes.
  • Exhibit a thorough understanding of customer needs and propose effective automation solutions.

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with Automated Manufacturing Equipment (including PLCs, vision systems, etc.).
  • Experience with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES).
  • Familiarity with validation processes for automated systems (IQ, OQ, PQ).
  • Proven ability to provide remote production support.
  • Experience in optimizing automated systems and processes.
  • Experience in an FDA-regulated manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Cognex Vision Systems is a plus.
