Senior Mechanical Engineer for Automated Systems

The Material Flow Engineering division is in search of a dedicated and skilled Mechanical Engineer to spearhead the design and execution of automated guided vehicles and related systems for various manufacturing facilities and initiatives. This role is pivotal in a dynamic and high-energy environment, collaborating with a robust, agile team to tackle some of the most ambitious projects in the industry. The team specializes in the design and integration of autonomous mobile robotic vehicles for diverse applications, including conveyance, warehousing, and assembly within production settings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design innovative automated material handling systems to enhance material flows across facilities utilizing automated vehicles.
  • Create analytical models to define design parameters and overall system performance metrics.
  • Oversee the development, detailed engineering, and system assembly of mobile robot initiatives.
  • Implement mobile robots in both testing and operational environments.
  • Develop testing protocols to verify functional, performance, and safety standards.
  • Analyze and refine automated processes to optimize cycle times and operational uptime.
  • Identify and rectify issues related to equipment breakdowns and persistent failures.
  • Effectively communicate findings and respond to inquiries from management and operational teams.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent professional experience.
  • Over 2 years of experience in material handling automation, including AS/RS, electric monorail systems, conveyance, and mobile robotics.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills across all organizational levels.
  • A genuine interest in mechanical automation equipment, robotics, and the design of electromechanical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Comprehension of how to integrate equipment design into existing or new systems.
  • Ability to apply logical and innovative thinking to a variety of complex problems.
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA, or similar modeling software.
  • A solid engineering foundation with practical design and development experience.
  • Understanding of the intricacies of autonomous system requirements and operational environments.
