Primary Responsibilities:

As the Facilities Operations Manager, you will oversee the comprehensive planning and execution of the facility maintenance and sanitation strategy.

Key Objectives:
  • Develop and implement a master facility strategy.
  • Create a risk mitigation plan for utility obsolescence.
  • Establish a Sustainability Roadmap for the site.

Your role will involve acting as the primary liaison between various teams at Abbott, local contractors, and maintenance personnel responsible for the facility's operations, including electrical and mechanical systems, janitorial services, and other operational aspects.

Ensure that any facility defects are promptly identified and addressed to adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) policies.

Maintenance Programs:
Manage and maintain programs for building and equipment, covering plumbing, electrical, HVAC, building automation systems, fire/life safety systems, and data center infrastructure.

Design and Construction Oversight:
Evaluate and direct design and construction activities across architectural, electrical, mechanical, and control disciplines.

Energy Management:
Lead energy conservation initiatives and monitor utility usage, costs, and performance metrics.

Compliance and Safety:
Coordinate hazardous waste disposal, pollution prevention, and waste minimization programs in full compliance with local regulations.

Project Management:
Oversee various facility improvement projects, including budget management and scheduling.

Vendor Management:
Participate in the solicitation, selection, and contract management processes for utilities and facility maintenance programs.

Incident Management:
Investigate incidents thoroughly and facilitate corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Team Development:
Work closely with the Engineering Services Director and HR on recruitment, training, and staff development initiatives.

Daily Operations:
Ensure the smooth operation of Utilities and Facilities, focusing on compliance with GMP standards and operational reliability.

Training and Empowerment:
Ensure all Utility and Facility personnel are adequately trained and empowered to make timely decisions regarding operational activities.

Budget Management:
Develop and monitor the Utility and Facility budget, ensuring alignment with operational goals.

Long-term Planning:
Formulate strategies to reduce energy consumption and waste generation.

Continuous Improvement:
Innovate utility operations to enhance asset utilization and efficiency.

Documentation and Approval:
Review and approve relevant documentation, procedures, and site modifications.

Safety Standards:
Maintain high safety, health, and environmental standards across all engineering operations, including those involving external vendors.

Collaboration:
Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure seamless operations.

Additional Responsibilities:
Engage in ad-hoc projects and perform other duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, or Civil Engineering, or a related field, or a Diploma with 10 years of relevant experience.
  • 3 to 6 years of related experience, including 3 years in a managerial role.
  • Comprehensive engineering skills and experience in utilities, automation, instrumentation, project management, and plant start-up.
  • Strong focus on business and customer service.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and skills in resource planning and prioritization.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement of operational processes.
  • Highly organized team player capable of managing multiple tasks under pressure.
