Position Overview:
The Smithsonian Institution seeks a dedicated Family Programs Coordinator to join the National Air and Space Museum's Education and Visitor Experience Directorate. This role is pivotal in enhancing the educational journey of families visiting our exhibits.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Education and Training:
    Facilitate the development and delivery of training programs focused on educational best practices and family-oriented content for staff and volunteers.
  • Program Development:
    Research and curate educational materials to create engaging family-focused programming across various museum exhibits.
  • Diverse Learning Adaptation:
    Modify educational resources to cater to different learning styles and demographics, ensuring inclusive and impactful programming.
  • Community Engagement:
    Participate in collaborative practices to leverage institutional resources and enhance public engagement in science education.
  • Content Creation:
    Develop scripts, brochures, and other educational materials that adhere to institutional standards, ensuring clarity and accessibility for all audiences.

Project Management:
Work collaboratively within a team to establish timelines and objectives for educational presentations and events, while supporting research on family dynamics and trends.

Technical Documentation:
Generate content for self-guided tours and evaluate educational products for accuracy and effectiveness, making necessary adjustments based on feedback.

Qualifications:
Applicants should possess a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and have 3-5 years of relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidates should demonstrate:
  • Practical knowledge in creating educational resources for independent learning.
  • Understanding of educational theories and learning styles.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Skills in content development that align with institutional learning objectives.
