Family Support Coordinator Duties include but are not limited to:
Evaluates program implementation Navy-wide, identifies and evaluates actual or potential problem areas, develops, and presents program alternatives or modifications to include impact on overall program objectives and implementations.
Communicates with family members and caregivers of wounded warriors living with physical and/or mental health conditions to ensure they receive the full range of support and benefits provided by NWW.
Educates families and caregivers with information and resource options available both inside and outside the federal government.
Performs ongoing wounded warrior family and caregiver assessments.
Participates in interagency groups and/or committees to identify and implement recommendations to improve overall functions and operations affecting Recovering Service Members (RSM) as they move through all phases of recovery and reintegration to include transition out of the military to the care of the Veterans Administration (VA).
Coordinates and/or implements policies and actions to address overall development and sustainment of mission and objective.
Assesses alternative approaches to resolving family support issues and applies knowledge of a wide range of methods to assess and evaluate the status, effectiveness, and efficiency of tasks assigned.
Provides guidance and direction to NWW program staff and informs supervisor on policy matters pertaining to family support.
Liaises with the internal and external agencies to resolve problems or cope with issues regarding family support.
Manages projects to provide comprehensive management-related services on a variety of complex issues as assigned. Conducts fact-finding analysis of issues surrounding the matter at hand to identify and clarify problems or relevant issues.
Represents NWW on the global platform, either virtually or in person, at meetings, conferences, symposiums, seminars, summits, and other appropriate events applicable to the care of the wounded, ill, and injured.
Prepares required monthly and annual reports for Family Support Program.
Supports the implementation of the Comprehensive Recovery Plan (CRP) used by the regional NWW teams to assist seriously wounded, ill or injured Service Members and their families and/or caregivers'.
Provides direct support to Family Program Support and Non-government Organization (NGO) Coordinator, Transition Coordinators, non-medical case managers and recovery care coordinators for all case management issues requiring higher-level coordination and/or support.
Screens NWWs referrals from regional staff for potential issues with individual request for specific family needs. Review requests and facilitates processing of monetary and material resources as well as accessing key services needed to assist the enrollee's recovery, rehabilitation, and reintegration.
Program Support Duties include but are not limited to:
Establishes and monitors multiple repositories for enrollees to include documentation in NWW module within the program database of record. Manages electronic and hard copies as necessary.
Performs other civilian duties as specified by higher authority to include leading, organizing, assisting with planning and coordination of NWW annual training and/or site visits, and other related NWW events.
Provides assistance to NWW Enrollment Committee operations such as meeting minutes, TWMS profiles reviews, or provides subject matter expertise as requested by the Enrollment Committee Chair and approved by the Program Manager or Direct Supervisor.
Prepares written reports that include findings and recommends corrective actions. Follows up with appropriate NWW staff offices in areas where there are deficits.
Serves as travel point of contact for the region enrollees participating in adaptive/recreation events to coordinate travel arrangement for applicable family members/caregivers attending Department of Defense (DoD) Warrior Games/INVICTUS.
Communicates with NWW HQ Marketing and Strategic Communication Specialist to raise awareness of program, to include highlighting local activities for families/caregivers to attend.
Collaborates with region Adaptive Recreation and Community Outreach Specialists on events and resource provided to enrollees in the field.
