Position Overview

The Graduate Assistant (GA) plays a crucial role in the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs at the Mequon, Wisconsin campus, focusing on facilitating faculty research initiatives. This position is part-time and funded through grants, with the possibility of renewal.

Key Responsibilities

The Financial and Compliance Graduate Assistant is responsible for supporting essential functions of the ORSP, which include:

  • Assisting in the formulation and oversight of grant budgets.
  • Conducting financial reconciliations for grant accounts.
  • Preparing and processing journal entries and budget adjustments.
  • Monitoring and reporting on grant expenditures to ensure alignment with approved budgets.
  • Providing assistance during the grant proposal submission process, particularly in budget preparation.
  • Supporting the review and approval processes for grant-related expenditures.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of policies and procedures for grant accounting.
  • Ensuring adherence to federal, state, and institutional regulations and policies.
  • Maintaining accurate records and documentation of all financial activities related to grants.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a graduate program at Concordia University.
  • Possession of a Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Strong grasp of accounting principles and financial management is essential.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is necessary.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Prior experience in grant accounting or financial administration is preferred but not mandatory.
