Overview:

The foremost responsibility of all personnel within the Special Events Department is to ensure the safety and preservation of the art.

Events and responsibilities are assigned under the guidance of the Head of Special Events. This encompasses both Internal and External Events across various venues. As a vital member of the Events team, the Sales Manager for Special Events may be required to engage as a key contributor in all facets of the department's operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and lead for venue rental sales to external clients.
  • Manage the venue sales process from initial inquiry to finalized contract.
  • Oversee all elements of the external sales process, including conducting venue tours, providing initial estimates, and negotiating contract terms.
  • Administer internal and external event calendars, manage the Special Events email inbox and phone line, and perform other administrative duties as necessary.
  • In collaboration with the Head of Special Events, develop and execute a marketing strategy aimed at promoting venue spaces to external clients, focusing on proactive sales engagement and networking.
  • Maintain and monitor an active portfolio of past and potential clients, including those identified through outbound networking and incoming inquiries.
  • Alongside the Head of Special Events and Business Coordinator, evaluate annual performance and project revenue expectations based on sales trends and internal schedules.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
  • Demonstrated sales success with the ability to effectively engage in proactive lead generation and networking strategies.
  • Understanding of event venue management, sales, and marketing principles.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities, with a strong attention to detail, and the capacity to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of museum personnel, as well as external event clients and their guests.
  • Strong clerical and financial skills are essential, along with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, and advanced Excel skills).
  • Willingness to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
Education and Experience:
  • A minimum of three (3) years of experience in event or venue sales and marketing.
  • A college degree is preferred; however, additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
