Position Overview
Poly Prep is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Sergeant.

The Sergeant will play a crucial role in fostering a secure and supportive environment for students, staff, and visitors within our educational community. This position involves overseeing shift security personnel and ensuring adherence to established safety protocols.

In the absence of senior security leadership, the Sergeant will be tasked with upholding all operational policies and procedures.

Work Schedule
The work hours for this position are Monday to Friday from 2 PM to 10 PM. Please note that participation in mandatory events may require weekend work, and hours may be adjusted based on school activities and departmental needs.


Key Responsibilities
1. Cover security posts and shifts as necessary.
2. Monitor and authorize the entry of staff, students, and visitors.
3. Conduct regular building inspections as required.
4. Ensure all security personnel are properly attired and stationed as needed.
5. Collaborate with the Head of School and Human Resources during emergency situations, including the preparation of incident reports.
6. Maintain relationships with local, state, and federal agencies in the absence of senior security staff.
7. Assist with transportation services, ensuring the safe arrival and departure of students using school buses.
8. Report unsafe conditions and potential hazards to appropriate school officials.
9. Provide meal relief during shifts.
10. Participate in health and safety inspections.
11. Oversee fire safety systems, ensuring they are operational.
12. Assist in conducting safety drills and training.
13. Monitor surveillance systems to ensure functionality.
14. Maintain knowledge of the building's public address system, CCTV, fire evacuation routes, and alarm systems.
15. Stay informed about Poly Prep's policies and emergency protocols.
Qualifications
Education:
High School diploma or equivalent.

Experience:
Minimum of 5 years in security management or supervisory roles.

Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Word.
Strong understanding of public safety protocols.
Ability to follow both written and verbal instructions.
Experience in managing daily operations and training personnel.

Certifications:
HR-218 (if applicable for retired law enforcement).
NYS Department of Security Armed Guard License (mandatory).
NYC Fire Department Certificate of Fitness License:
S95 - Supervision of Fire Alarm Systems (mandatory).
F07/W0 - Fire and Emergency Drill Conductor (mandatory).
F03/F0 - Indoor Place of Assembly Safety Personnel (mandatory).
CPR/AED Certification (mandatory).
Additional certifications may be required upon hiring.
Special Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods and work in various weather conditions.
Willingness to travel to other campuses as needed.
Capability to remain composed and professional during emergencies.
Demonstrated integrity and professionalism.
Compensation
Hourly wage ranges from $30.00 to $35.00.
