POSITION TITLE: SECURITY SHIFT SUPERVISOR

CLASSIFICATION: NON-EXEMPT

DEPARTMENT: SECURITY SERVICES

REPORTING TO: SECURITY MANAGER

COMPENSATION: $24 PER HOUR

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Security Shift Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing various specialized tasks and security operations within a supportive housing environment. This position is primarily focused on ensuring the safety and security of clients, particularly single men residing in the facility. The Security Shift Supervisor is accountable to the Security Manager and is expected to uphold the highest standards of safety and service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Onboard and train new security personnel on facility protocols and procedures.
  • Oversee and assign duties to Security Staff Officers, drivers, and kitchen personnel during shifts.
  • Manage access control systems and ensure proper operation of security equipment.
  • Address incidents effectively, employing crisis management techniques to safeguard staff and clients.
  • Conduct regular patrols of the facility and surrounding areas to identify and mitigate potential risks.
  • Provide immediate assistance during emergencies and support staff in crisis situations.
  • Prepare and submit monthly security reports.
  • Document incidents and distribute reports as necessary.
  • Utilize CARES and other organizational protocols for documentation.
  • Coordinate with emergency services when required.
  • Perform daily inspections of security and fire safety systems.
  • Assume the responsibilities of a Client Care Monitor when needed.
  • Adjust staff schedules to accommodate absences and ensure adequate coverage.
  • Maintain a secure environment for both clients and staff.
  • Offer crisis intervention support as needed.
  • Assist the Security Manager in conducting fire drills and safety training.
  • Review and verify log entries and incident reports for accuracy.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions as required.
  • Check and manage inventory of security equipment daily.
  • Carry out all other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A minimum of an Associate's Degree in social services, criminology, or a related field, or equivalent experience is required. Must possess a valid New York State Security Guard License, Fire Guard License (F-80 or F-89), and certification in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI). A solid understanding of security systems is essential. Candidates should demonstrate problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills based on factual information. Familiarity with video surveillance and fire detection systems is necessary. The Security Shift Supervisor should have reliable transportation and knowledge of public transit options. Flexibility in scheduling is required, along with a strong understanding of shelter operations and protocols.
