DEPARTMENT: SECURITY SERVICES

REPORTING TO: SECURITY MANAGER

COMPENSATION: $24 PER HOUR

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Shift Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing various specialized tasks and security operations within a shelter environment. This position primarily serves single male clients and is accountable to the Security Manager. A valid COVID-19 vaccination is a prerequisite for this role.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Onboard and train new security personnel on facility protocols.
  • Supervise and assign duties to Security Staff Officers, drivers, and kitchen personnel during assigned shifts.
  • Oversee access control measures, ensuring the effective operation of security equipment.
  • Address incidents and apply crisis management techniques to safeguard staff and clients.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the facility and surrounding areas to identify and mitigate risks, including unauthorized access and illegal activities.
  • Respond to emergencies on-site, providing direction and support to team members.
  • Prepare and submit monthly security documentation.
  • Generate incident reports and distribute them as necessary.
  • Utilize CARES and other organizational protocols for documentation.
  • Coordinate with emergency services when they are present on-site.
  • Perform daily inspections of security and fire safety systems.
  • Assume the responsibilities of a Client Care Monitor in their absence.
  • Adjust staff schedules in response to absenteeism and unexpected staffing needs.
  • Ensure the safety and security of both clients and staff members.
  • Provide crisis intervention support as required.
  • Assist the Security Manager in planning and executing fire drills.
  • Review logs, incident reports, and administrative tasks for accuracy during shifts.
  • Participate in and lead various meetings and training sessions as necessary.
  • Conduct daily inventory checks of assigned equipment and investigate any discrepancies.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

A minimum of an Associate's Degree in social services, criminology, or a related field, or equivalent experience is required. A valid New York State Security Guard License, Fire Guard License (F-80 or F-89), and certification in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) are mandatory. Candidates should possess a solid understanding of security systems, problem-solving abilities, and decision-making skills based on factual information. Familiarity with video surveillance and fire detection systems is essential. The Shift Supervisor must have access to a personal vehicle and knowledge of public transportation. A home phone number is also required. Flexibility in scheduling is necessary, and familiarity with shelter operations and protocols is preferred.
