Position Overview

The City of New York is seeking a dedicated and skilled individual to join the Human Resources Bureau as a Recruitment Specialist. This role is essential in ensuring that our recruitment efforts are effective and reflective of the diverse community we serve. The ideal candidate will be a proactive representative of the Office, engaging with potential candidates and facilitating a smooth recruitment process.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the recruitment process from job posting to candidate selection.
  • Collaborate with educational institutions to organize interviews and develop innovative recruitment strategies.
  • Prepare and organize interview materials using our Applicant Tracking System.
  • Participate in job fairs to attract and recruit qualified candidates.
  • Provide training to interviewers on effective interviewing techniques and protocols.
  • Oversee interviews to ensure a fair and unbiased selection process.
  • Assist in the coordination of the Summer Intern Program, including event planning and performance evaluations.
  • Maintain data within the applicant tracking system, schedule interviews, and prepare offer letters.
  • Compile hiring statistics and update necessary data for reporting to senior management.
  • Utilize relevant systems to verify civil service certifications and manage employee records.
  • Process electronic transactions as required.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or a High School diploma/GED with a minimum of three years of relevant experience in a governmental or community organization. Experience in recruitment or career services is highly desirable.

Candidates should demonstrate:

  • Familiarity with citywide systems.
  • Proficiency in computer applications, including Microsoft Office and Adobe Pro.
  • Strong skills in candidate sourcing and relationship management.
  • Expertise in database management and record-keeping.
