OVERVIEW
The IT Senior Associate plays a crucial role in executing advanced professional tasks within technology-oriented fields. While specific areas of expertise may differ, these associates typically engage in a variety of activities related to development, programming, technical assistance, and communications, tailored to the requirements of the Information Technology department.

Responsibilities encompass diagnosing, assessing, managing, and resolving intricate projects.

These professionals are expected to exercise considerable independence and judgment, often taking the lead on sophisticated initiatives or supervising a team.

IT Senior Associates should exhibit a high level of proficiency in one or more technology-related fields, possess decision-making capabilities relevant to those areas, and act as a knowledgeable resource.

They may also influence decisions regarding IT policies and technical standards.


POSITION DETAILS
Reporting to the CUNY Administrative Systems Manager, the IT Associate will be responsible for:

  • Managing and optimizing various AWS services to provide cost-effective and scalable solutions.
  • Assisting in the formulation of a comprehensive disaster recovery strategy, including automated backups and failover mechanisms.
  • Writing and reviewing code for web applications, primarily using HTML, XML, or JavaScript.
  • Building and enhancing secure web pages to meet evolving business requirements and integrating multimedia elements.
  • Providing ongoing support for multiple web properties.
  • Maintaining, expanding, and scaling the college's websites.
  • Collaborating with team members and supervisors to ensure alignment with the website's direction and working with web designers to achieve visual design goals.
  • Coding and scripting applications.
  • Conducting routine site audits and performing maintenance as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants must possess a High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent. Additionally, candidates should have one of the following:
  • Ten years of full-time experience in a computer or technology-related role.
  • An Associate's degree with eight years of relevant experience.
  • A Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution with six years of relevant experience.

Demonstrated proficiency in the English language is required. A valid Motor Vehicle Driver's license in New York State may be necessary for certain positions.


SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Required skills include proficiency with a comprehensive range of web development tools, specifically:
  • .NET, C#, PHP, JAVA, HTML, CSS, WordPress CMS
  • PeopleSoft interfaces, particularly CUNYFirst ERP
  • API development
  • e-Commerce experience, SEO
  • SSL and PCI-Compliance coding
  • Experience in converting standard pages to responsive design across various platforms and browsers.

PREFERRED SKILLS
Familiarity with:
  • JAVAScript, Django, SQL (JQuery, MS-SQL, MySQL)
  • PLONE CMS
  • VoIP integration
  • CUNY-specific applications and services, including BlackBoard LMS, BrightSpace LMS, DegreeWorks, Raisers Edge, Visual Schedule Builder, Campus Management, HandShake, Qualtrix Survey, Library EZproxy, Oracle Identity Manager, Shibboleth, LDAP, and MS-OFFICE365.

Understanding of SEO practices, excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently while managing time effectively are essential.


COMPENSATION
Salary: $91,298
