Job Overview:

The Springfield Public Schools is seeking a dedicated individual for the position of Principal Clerk. This role is essential in ensuring the smooth operation of the school’s administrative functions.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain an accurate Daily Teacher Attendance Log and manage records related to staff time and substitute teachers.
  • Ensure PowerSchool technology is updated with current pupil information.
  • Keep comprehensive records on school staff.
  • Perform word processing, typing, and proofreading of various documents, including letters and memoranda, from clear copies or rough drafts.
  • Prepare payroll and supplemental pay for the school, submitting them to the Payroll Department promptly.
  • Handle MUNIS requisitions and maintain purchase orders efficiently.
  • Welcome visitors and respond to inquiries, directing them to the appropriate personnel.
  • Operate fax and copying machines to duplicate forms, bulletins, and notices.
  • Organize and maintain office files systematically.
  • Answer telephone calls, take messages, and forward them to the relevant staff.
  • Provide support to the Principal, Assistant Principal, and other office staff as needed.
  • Carry out additional tasks as assigned by the Principal and Assistant Principals.

Qualifications:
  • Civil Service Eligibility required.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Proficient in typing, word processing, and proofreading complex documents.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to perform duties with minimal supervision.
  • Willingness to adhere to the school’s schedule.
  • Must be a resident of Springfield.
