**Job Summary**

The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is seeking a highly skilled Academic Advisor I to provide expert guidance and support to undergraduate students seeking opportunities to study abroad. As a key member of the Education Abroad team, you will play a crucial role in selecting students for study abroad scholarships and other opportunities, while also providing counseling services regarding student academics or other aspects of student life.

**Key Responsibilities:**

  • Provide guidance and advice to undergraduate students seeking opportunities to study abroad
  • Assist the Education Abroad office with selecting students for study abroad scholarships and other opportunities
  • Offer counseling services regarding student academics or other aspects of student life
  • Refer students to other agencies or offices as required
  • Collect data related to assessment of students, assist with student recruitment/retention, and serve on special committees as needed
  • Maintain accurate student information and adhere to confidentiality standards
  • Provide new student orientation and outreach services to junior colleges for undergraduate program admissions
  • May coordinate support services for students, prepare special and recurring reports regarding status of students, and/or assist with departmental publications

**Requirements:**

  • Bachelor's degree in Counseling, Education, or a related field
  • Two (2) years of related experience required
  • Work experience may NOT substitute for education requirement
