Job Summary:

Position: Bakery Operations Supervisor
FLSA Status: Exempt
Reports To: Store Director/Bakery Director

The Bakery Operations Supervisor is responsible for collaborating with Bakery and Deli team members to ensure adherence to company policies and the achievement of departmental goals. This role plays a crucial part in enhancing store sales and profitability by effectively overseeing all bakery and deli operations, including labor management, expense control, pricing accuracy, inventory levels, merchandising, and customer service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promotes and embodies the Festival culture, emphasizing guest service and performance standards.
  • Ensures adequate staffing by working with the Human Resources Manager to interview and hire qualified candidates.
  • Facilitates comprehensive training and leadership for new Bakery and Deli team members.
  • Manages labor objectives by creating schedules and collaborating with store leadership on labor goals.
  • Provides ongoing support and training to associates at 30, 60, and 90 days post-hire to enhance retention.
  • Guides and delegates tasks to Bakery and Deli team leaders.
  • Supports the professional development of associates by aligning with their career goals.
  • Conducts performance evaluations for Bakery and Deli associates in partnership with department leaders.
  • Oversees gross profit goals, planning, and shrink management.
  • Documents policy violations and implements corrective actions in collaboration with Human Resources and Store Director.
  • Ensures accurate signage and representation throughout the Bakery and Deli Departments.
  • Monitors sales floor and back stock conditions, taking corrective actions as necessary.
  • Maintains inventory accuracy and ensures correct pricing on products.
  • Places orders with vendors for special requests and seasonal items based on inventory movement.
  • Delivers exceptional customer service by addressing concerns and resolving issues promptly.
  • Contributes to the cleanliness and organization of the department, ensuring a welcoming environment.
  • Manages timekeeping and accuracy for Bakery and Deli associates.
  • Prepares performance reviews, coaching sessions, and training documentation.
  • Maintains regular attendance in line with the work schedule and provides adequate notice for absences.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

To excel in this role, candidates must demonstrate the ability to perform essential job functions satisfactorily. The following qualifications are essential:

  • High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role, preferably in retail or food service.
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in technology and computer usage.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the retail food industry, including perishable department operations and merchandising.
  • Understanding of safety requirements and company safety policies.
  • Ability to recognize and respond to potential safety hazards in the workplace.
  • WI Certified Food Manager License (Festival will cover certification costs).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The physical demands and work environment described below are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods, walk throughout the store, and bend or kneel regularly.
  • Requires manual dexterity and coordination to operate equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds occasionally.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures in different areas of the store.

WORK SCHEDULE:

This is a full-time, salaried position that requires flexibility in scheduling, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
