Job Summary:

Position: Bakery Operations Supervisor
FLSA Status: Salary
Reports To: Store Director/Bakery Director

The Bakery Operations Supervisor is responsible for collaborating with Bakery and Deli team members to ensure adherence to company policies and achievement of departmental objectives. This role plays a crucial part in enhancing store sales and profitability by effectively managing bakery and deli operations, including labor, expenses, pricing accuracy, inventory management, merchandising, and customer service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Promotes and upholds the Festival culture, guest service standards, and performance expectations.
  • Ensures adequate staffing by partnering with Human Resources for recruitment and onboarding of qualified candidates.
  • Provides comprehensive training and leadership to new Bakery and Deli associates.
  • Manages labor goals by creating schedules and collaborating with store leadership on labor objectives.
  • Offers ongoing support and training to associates during their initial employment period to enhance retention.
  • Guides and delegates tasks to Bakery and Deli Department leaders.
  • Supports the professional development of associates by aligning with their career goals.
  • Conducts performance evaluations for Bakery and Deli associates in collaboration with department leaders.
  • Oversees gross profit management, planning, and shrink control.
  • Documents policy violations and collaborates with Human Resources and Store Director for corrective actions.
  • Ensures accurate signage and product representation throughout the Bakery and Deli Departments.
  • Monitors sales floor and stock conditions, addressing areas for improvement.
  • Maintains inventory levels and ensures pricing accuracy on products.
  • Places orders with vendors for special occasions and holidays based on item movement.
  • Delivers exceptional customer service by addressing concerns and resolving issues promptly.
  • Contributes to the cleanliness and organization of the department.
  • Oversees timekeeping and accuracy for Bakery and Deli associates.
  • Prepares coaching materials, performance reviews, and training documentation.
  • Maintains regular attendance in accordance with the work schedule.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of leadership experience, with at least 2 years in a managerial role in retail or food service.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in technology and computer usage.
  • In-depth knowledge of the retail food industry and perishable department operations.
  • Understanding of safety requirements and company policies.
  • Ability to recognize and respond to safety hazards.
  • WI Certified Food Manager License (Festival will cover certification costs).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks such as bending and lifting.
  • Requires manual dexterity and coordination to operate equipment.
  • Ability to lift up to 60 pounds occasionally.
  • Exposure to varying temperatures in different work areas.

WORK SCHEDULE:

This is a full-time, salaried position requiring flexibility in scheduling, including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
