About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Maintenance Operations Supervisor to join our team at Dollar General. As a key member of our distribution center operations, you will be responsible for ensuring a safe and mechanically sound working environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate Daily Activities: Oversee the daily activities of the maintenance department to ensure rapid response to departmental requests for repair or service.
  • Identify Performance Indicators: Develop and communicate action plans for improvement, utilizing the Productivity Improvement Plan process to identify areas for improvement.
  • Review Reports and Plan Departmental Activities: Review inbound and outbound S&OP reports and assist in department planning, making adjustments based on distribution center needs.
  • Establish Work Schedules: Plan daily production goals for the department and establish work schedules based on preventative maintenance requirements.
  • Conduct Audits and Analyze Results: Conduct required sortation audits and analyze results to determine appropriate system and/or personnel adjustments.
  • Ensure Training and Safety: Ensure that adequate training is provided for all maintenance department employees and support safety programs to reduce employee injuries.
  • Partner with Maintenance Manager and Human Resources: Partner with the Maintenance Manager and Human Resources to ensure OSHA compliance and serve as a back-up contact person for governmental agencies.
Requirements
  • Knowledge and Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals.
  • Mathematical Calculations: Ability to perform mathematical calculations such as addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and percentages.
  • Inventory Management and Merchandising: Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
  • Recruiting and Hiring: Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, and termination practices including legal compliance and internal processes.
  • Effective Communication: Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations where limited standardization exists.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
  • On-Call Availability: On call twenty-four hours per day, seven days a week to support distribution center operations.
  • Maintenance Experience: Maintenance experience required.
  • Automated Retail Distribution Center Experience: Experience in an automated retail distribution center preferred.
  • Supervisory Experience: Two years minimum supervisory experience.
  • Vocational Skills Training: Vocational skills training as a tradesperson (mechanical, electrical, welding, hydraulic, pneumatics).
