Key Responsibilities- Answer and direct incoming phone calls in a timely and professional manner
- Collect payments for copays and deductibles, and make financial arrangements for patients
- Perform check-in and check-out duties accurately and efficiently
- Make appointments for visits and inform clinical employees or providers of emergencies
- Verify insurance eligibility and benefits, and record information in the medical record
- Accurately enter patient demographics into the practice management system
- Take clear and concise messages from pharmacies, physicians, and hospital personnel, and direct them to the clinical employee or provider
- Manage a high volume of telephone calls and patient interactions while maintaining excellent telephone etiquette
- Organize workflow to meet patient needs in a timely manner
- 1 year of clerical experience preferred
- Experience in cashier procedures, basic accounting, clinic check-in/out procedures, basic health insurance, HMO, PPO, and medical terminology
- 6 months of customer service experience and 6 months of telephone customer service experience preferred
- Ability to communicate effectively in English (verbal and written)
