Position Overview

Otsuka America Pharmaceutical, Inc. has introduced an innovative customer engagement strategy aimed at enhancing the experience of patients, caregivers, and healthcare professionals (HCPs) in a dynamic healthcare landscape. This model emphasizes local care delivery, striving to elevate the quality of patient care through improved service to all stakeholders.

Strategic Ecosystem Approach

The new approach fosters collaboration among account management, medical teams, patient access, and market access to effectively engage local healthcare systems. This initiative aims to identify opportunities that enhance the patient experience, ensuring a more integrated and seamless care journey supported by digital tools.

Role of the Health Science Advisor

In this evolved customer engagement framework, the Health Science Advisor (HSA) will interact with HCPs using a mix of in-person, virtual, and digital resources. The HSA will provide comprehensive insights into products and the conditions they address. Additionally, Otsuka's Clinical and Scientific Specialists (CSS) will offer in-depth clinical knowledge and personalized education on disease states and real-world evidence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Proactive Outreach: Engage HCPs on topics including product access, on-label information, and established patient care guidelines.
  • Customer Engagement: Utilize various virtual and digital tools to connect with customers, ensuring their inquiries are addressed and feedback is collected.
  • Thought Leadership: Organize speaker programs and local provider discussions to share experiences and outcomes.
  • Business Planning: Gather insights to inform local strategies and collaborate with the ecosystem team to refine targeting and engagement plans.

Qualifications
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in pharmaceutical or medical device sales.
  • Residence within a commutable distance of the designated sales territory.

Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Experience in commercial life sciences or related fields, engaging with key healthcare ecosystem stakeholders.
  • 4+ years in a sales role with HCPs, ideally across multiple products in complex healthcare environments.
  • Clinical nursing or Advanced Practice Nurse (APN) experience is highly regarded.
  • Ability to navigate an evolving and ambiguous environment.
  • Proven track record in mentoring and coaching peers to achieve their goals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to communicate complex clinical information effectively.
  • Knowledge of operational issues related to healthcare product delivery, including reimbursement and supply chain management.
