Role Summary

The Financial Counselor plays a crucial role in assisting patients with their financial responsibilities related to healthcare services. This position involves guiding patients through their financial obligations and providing tailored solutions to meet their needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Educate patients on their medical expenses and financial responsibilities.
  • Assist patients in organizing and managing their financial commitments.
  • Collaborate with insurance providers to clarify coverage and benefits.
  • Inform patients about the costs of procedures and potential funding alternatives.
  • Identify resources available to support patients with healthcare bills.
  • Address patient inquiries regarding financial matters, payment options, and assistance programs.
  • Facilitate connections for second opinions or follow-up care as necessary.
  • Process daily charge tickets and ensure accurate daily financial reporting.
  • Manage daily office deposits and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

A High School Diploma or GED is required, with a preference for candidates possessing a minimum of three years of experience in the healthcare sector.

Skills & Abilities

Candidates should demonstrate:

  • Proficiency in medical terminology and procedures.
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills, particularly with diverse patient populations.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve patient inquiries related to their accounts.
  • Understanding of basic accounting principles.
  • Flexibility to manage multiple tasks and responsibilities effectively.
  • Organizational skills and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to prioritize and schedule work efficiently.
  • Knowledge of insurance payment and billing regulations to ensure accurate billing practices.

Work Environment

This position is based in an office setting, requiring skills in computer usage, walking, and occasional lifting.
