LEAD TAX STRATEGIST - REMOTE - COMPETITIVE SALARY + Performance-Based Incentives

Overview

As a vital member of our Tax division, you will have the opportunity to engage directly with a varied clientele, collaborating with partners and senior personnel to deliver a comprehensive range of tax and advisory services. You will be involved in a distinctive client-centric model, gaining insights into primary client account activities while also managing underlying entities, trusts, and individual tax filings. Close collaboration with our Accounting and Assurance teams will be essential on client projects that intersect both areas. The tax strategist will enhance team workflows and systems to boost productivity and business growth, exemplifying initiative, vision, resourcefulness, creativity, and independent thought, while being recognized as a valued individual, mentored for future leadership, and acknowledged for your achievements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the Engagement Manager for designated tax client accounts, overseeing planning, execution, final deliverables, and billing processes.
  • Review intricate individual, partnership, S and C corporation tax filings, along with nonprofit and trust tax documents and work papers utilizing CCH Axcess and Advance Flow.
  • Create a comprehensive tax engagement work plan, detailing budgets and timelines for deliverables.
  • Track project progress against the budget and communicate any schedule modifications to management.
  • Analyze client transactions and complex situations, incorporating the tax implications of each scenario.
  • Identify and address potential or existing issues through appropriate tax research and consulting, utilizing various tax research platforms as needed.
  • Maintain open lines of communication with both staff and clients to address concerns and identify opportunities for enhanced service offerings.
  • Collaborate closely with clients and partners within our client-focused approach to deliver exceptional service and build trust in our firm’s capabilities.
  • Oversee the activities and chargeability of subordinates, effectively delegating tasks to staff.
  • Foster the technical and industry skills of subordinates and promote their professional development.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting; a Master’s in Taxation is advantageous.
  • CPA certification is mandatory.
  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in a public accounting firm with a focus on tax.
  • Team-oriented with a willingness to engage in hands-on work when necessary.
  • Proactive problem solver with strong analytical capabilities.
  • Self-driven with excellent follow-through on assigned responsibilities.
  • Strong communication skills are essential.
