We operate from four locations: our full-service building in Berkeley, afterschool programs at Joaquin Miller Elementary and Hintil Elementary in Oakland, and administrative offices on our flagship campus in Oakland.

Position Summary
The Afterschool Inclusion Specialist plays a vital role in supporting students on the Autism Spectrum in our afterschool programs, with a focus on the JCC Kids' Club Afterschool Program at Joaquin Miller Elementary and Hintil Elementary. This specialist demonstrates leadership abilities and maintains a positive, inclusive environment for students who require extra support and their families. The Inclusion Specialist works closely with the Program Director, Director of Afterschool Programs, and inclusion coordinator from the school to ensure smooth transitions and continuity of care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement individualized support plans for students on the Autism Spectrum, in partnership with families and teachers.
  • Provide behavioral support and interventions to help students regulate their emotions and behaviors.
  • Collaborate with teachers to develop strategies for inclusive practices and engagement of all students.
  • Communicate effectively with families, teachers, and staff to ensure consistent support and progress.
  • Document student progress, behavior contracts, and disciplinary moments, and maintain accurate records.

Requirements
  • At least 1-2 years of experience working with children on the Autism Spectrum.
  • At least 1-2 years of experience working with children in grades K-5.
  • ABA Training or other Special Education training.
  • BA in Special Education or relevant field preferred.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a team and maintain a positive, inclusive environment.
