About the Role:
Wonderful College Prep Academy is currently inviting applications for part-time Academic Support Specialist roles within the GEAR UP program. The selected candidates will accompany student cohorts throughout their high school journey. The position entails approximately 22 hours of work per week, which may occur during lunch periods or class times (morning and/or afternoon). This role will adhere to the Academy's academic calendar and will report to the GEAR UP Coordinator.

Key Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of the Academic Support Specialist include, but are not limited to:

  • Delivering individualized tutoring services to students in both one-on-one and small group settings.
  • Collaborating with GEAR UP staff to enhance educational support.
  • Providing direct assistance to students with various academic support services, including tutoring and workshop facilitation.
  • Assisting in the planning, organization, and execution of GEAR UP grant activities.
  • Adhering to school and GEAR UP protocols and procedures.
  • Performing additional related duties as assigned.

Work Schedule:
Monday - 11:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Tuesday - 10:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Wednesday - 11:30 AM - 4:30 PM
Thursday - 10:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Qualifications:
Applicants should meet the following criteria:

  • Possess a college degree or be currently enrolled in college with completion of freshman English and college-level math (Algebra II).
  • Have at least one year of tutoring experience.
  • Exhibit a willingness to learn and adapt, demonstrating problem-solving skills and initiative.
  • Be a self-motivated individual with a strong work ethic, capable of working independently.
  • Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to quickly build rapport and effectively communicate with students.
  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish is advantageous.

Compensation:
The pay rate for this position is $18.00 per hour.
