As an Educational Support Specialist, your role will involve providing tailored supervision and instruction to designated students while offering additional assistance to the core classroom team. You will collaborate with students to implement their Individualized Education Programs (IEP), utilizing both group and individual instructional methods in various settings.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Supporting classroom educators in cultivating a safe and welcoming atmosphere that promotes high expectations for student learning.
  • Executing on-site and community-based instructional strategies and behavioral interventions aligned with each student's goals.
  • Instructing and overseeing students during lessons to ensure instructional fidelity and employing strategies to facilitate student learning and course completion.
  • Monitoring and encouraging individual student progress according to established timelines, while communicating with educators regarding overall performance and necessary interventions.
  • Managing student behavior in accordance with established policies and applying appropriate disciplinary measures when needed, in collaboration with classroom educators.
  • Providing academic support and guidance to students, fostering their development in community, vocational, leisure, domestic, academic, and social skills.
  • Maintaining accurate and timely documentation of student behavior as per school protocols, and reporting observations to relevant staff while making recommendations based on these observations.
  • Assisting in the preparation of behavioral reports and daily activity logs as required.
  • Communicating essential information to students, team members, supervisors, and parents regarding student needs and academic progress in partnership with educators.
  • Upholding the confidentiality of student information and records at all times.
  • Participating in the assurance and accreditation processes to ensure compliance with performance standards.
  • Engaging in school, student/parent, and advisory meetings as requested.
  • Responding positively to both formal and informal feedback.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications Required:
  • High school diploma or equivalent with successful completion of a basic skills assessment.
  • Associate degree or higher in education or a closely related field is preferred.
  • Possession of or ability to obtain a valid state driver's license.
  • Preferred licensure as a paraprofessional, paraeducator, teaching assistant, or similar credential.
  • Previous experience working with children, particularly in special education settings.
  • Strong skills in supporting children with autism spectrum disorders, developmental disabilities, and/or challenging behaviors.
  • Comfortable driving or accompanying students in a company vehicle as needed.
  • Ability to think and act swiftly and calmly in emergencies, making independent decisions as necessary.
  • Proficient in motivating students and engaging in critical conversations that guide them toward realistic goals.
  • Excellent oral and written communication, organizational, conflict resolution, multitasking, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Familiarity with relevant technology, including instructional tools, Microsoft Office Suite, database management, and basic office equipment.
