Job Overview
The Colwell Law Group is seeking a detail-oriented Legal Secretary to provide administrative support to attorneys in our family and matrimonial law practice. This role involves managing client files, scheduling meetings and court hearings, and communicating with clients and court personnel.

About the Position
This is a full-time position, primarily working in an office environment with frequent court appearances. Regular travel to local courthouses and client meetings is required. You may need to work extended hours during trial preparation or busy periods. We offer a competitive salary range of $45,000 - $55,000 per year, depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage and maintain client files, both in hard copy and electronically.
  • Schedule client meetings, court hearings, and mediations.
  • Handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • File legal documents with courts (both in person and electronically).
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, and court personnel via phone, email, and letters.
  • Prepare for trials, including organizing exhibits and witness lists.


Requirements
To be successful in this role, you will need:
  • Experience as a legal secretary, preferably in family and matrimonial law.
  • Knowledge of family law processes, court procedures, and legal terminology.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and legal case management software.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters with professionalism.
