Youth Activities Coordinator – Creating Memorable Experiences

Reports to: Director of Programs
Compensation: $16.23-$17.27 per hour

Location: Oceanside, CA
This position is situated in Southern California, specifically in Oceanside, CA, within a military base environment. Civilian employees are granted base access.

Position Summary:
Are you excited to take on a role where enjoyment, innovation, and compassion come together? We are seeking a Youth Activities Coordinator who excels not only in supervision but also in transforming every moment into a chance for education and joy.

Your Role:
As the Youth Activities Coordinator, you will be the driving force behind our youth programs. From planning engaging activities to showcasing your creativity in unique events, you will ensure that each day is filled with unforgettable experiences.

Key Responsibilities:
Creative Curriculum Developer:

  • Design an inspiring curriculum that ignites creativity.
  • Organize activities, games, and lessons that make learning a delightful journey.
  • Introduce a weekly theme to elevate ordinary days into extraordinary adventures.
  • Promote YMCA values such as caring, respect, responsibility, and honesty.
Logistics Coordinator:
  • Prepare the environment 30 minutes prior to activities, ensuring readiness.
  • Maintain a safe, organized, and clean space for children's engagement.
Relationship Builder:
  • Establish strong connections with school staff and families, utilizing effective communication skills.
  • Handle conflicts with the expertise of a skilled mediator.
Advocate for Continuous Improvement:
  • Participate in required meetings and training sessions with enthusiasm.
  • Collaborate with fellow facilitators to share insights and coordinate lesson plans.
Additional Duties:
  • Provide parents with valuable feedback regarding their children's development.
  • Compile end-of-year reports, monthly attendance logs, and gather necessary classroom materials.
  • Manage cash receipts and ensure a supply of nutritious snacks for participants.
Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED, with at least 1 year of experience in supervised child care programs.
  • Preferred qualifications include a degree in psychology, elementary education, child development, or related fields.
  • Successful completion of background checks and drug testing to ensure safety.
  • Compliance with current health and sanitation standards, along with passing background checks and reference checks.
Physical and Mental Requirements:

Stay active throughout the day, engaging in various physical activities such as walking, bending, kneeling, and climbing stairs.

Occasionally lift and carry items weighing up to 40 pounds while effectively managing multiple tasks.

Exhibit sufficient strength, agility, and mobility to supervise children's activities safely, ensuring a fun and secure environment.
