Position Overview: The individual in this role will oversee the strategic direction and operational management of behavioral health services within the organization. This includes the formulation and implementation of medical policies that ensure members receive high-quality and cost-effective care.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Analyze current policies and contribute to the development of new guidelines in response to evolving healthcare standards.
  2. Lead and manage both clinical and administrative initiatives that enhance healthcare quality, cost efficiency, and patient outcomes.
  3. Identify innovative strategies to improve service delivery and overall quality.
  4. Act as a consultant and resource for various departments, participating in committees and representing the organization in external engagements.
  5. Collaborate with physical health medical directors to enhance overall healthcare quality and provide behavioral health insights.
  6. Support medical management teams in ensuring prompt and effective communication with members and providers.
  7. Engage with providers, members, and advocacy groups to uphold the organization's values and philosophy.
  8. Participate in state-level meetings to oversee the Managed Medicaid program.
  9. Maintain knowledge of NCQA accreditation processes, particularly HEDIS measures, and strive for continuous improvement in these areas.
  10. Utilize data analysis for quality enhancement, care management, and utilization management to influence provider practices.

Qualifications:

Requires a medical degree (M.D. or D.O.) and board certification in Psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.

An active, unrestricted medical license to practice in the relevant state is mandatory.

A minimum of 10 years of clinical experience or a combination of education and experience that provides a comparable background.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

Experience in managed care or with behavioral health contractors is preferred.

Experience as a general psychiatrist in clinical, leadership, or practice settings is advantageous.

Ideal Candidate Background:

Experience with organizations such as Centene, United, Aetna, or private practices is preferred.
