The Chief Officer plays a vital role in protecting community health through effective sheltering and field operations, aiming for optimal outcomes for both animals and their owners, including adoption, rescue, and humane euthanasia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and oversee operations across multiple facilities while adhering to budgetary constraints.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to develop annual work plans that align with the organization's long-term goals.
  • Lead and mentor a team of four managers responsible for various functions including Animal Care, Behavior Assessment, Client Services, and Law Enforcement.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement through data-driven decision-making.

  • Actively engage with stakeholders to gather insights and experiences, fostering a culture of kindness and curiosity.
  • Address performance issues through transparent communication, providing support for team development.

Qualifications:

  • Valid driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings.

  • Minimum of 5 years in senior leadership roles, with at least 3 years in animal care or nonprofit management.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with animal sheltering databases and data analysis.
  • Current euthanasia technician certification or willingness to obtain within six months of hire.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.

Physical and Working Conditions:

  • Must be capable of operating large vehicles and handling heavy equipment.
  • Ability to work in environments with high noise levels and potential animal interactions.

Compensation and Benefits:

  • Annual salary range of $80,000 to $110,000, with potential relocation assistance.
