POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Human Resources and Culture Specialist plays a vital role in managing daily human resource operations at IWPR, encompassing benefits administration, compliance with labor laws, HRIS management, and the full recruitment cycle, including onboarding and offboarding processes. This role is essential in delivering exceptional customer service to IWPR employees, supervisors, and leadership regarding a wide array of HR-related inquiries, such as HR policies, talent acquisition, benefits, and performance management. Additionally, the specialist will contribute to fostering a collaborative and positive organizational culture.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Human Resource Strategy, Policies, and Procedures Development and Implementation
  • Ensure all HR systems, processes, and policies reflect IWPR's commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity.
  • Assist in the creation, rollout, and implementation of policies, benefits, and the employee handbook.
  • Participate in defining HR strategies and objectives for the organization, providing ongoing feedback for improvement.
  • Recommend adjustments to policies and procedures based on organizational and employee needs.
  • Support the development and management of an effective performance appraisal system.
  • Contribute to strategies aimed at enhancing employee morale, motivation, and retention.
Human Resource Coordination
  • Execute routine tasks necessary for administering human resource programs, including compensation, benefits, leave management, disciplinary actions, and performance management.
  • Act as an HR ambassador, assisting employees and external parties with HR-related inquiries.
  • Maintain and manage employee records and files.
  • Ensure accurate timekeeping and administer employee leave and time-off requests.
  • Perform data entry in HRIS, including new hires, job/pay changes, terminations, and reporting HR metrics.
  • Support the administration of the annual staff survey.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, recommending best practices.
  • Stay informed about HR trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources and employment law.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Recruitment
  • Conduct recruitment, interviews, and facilitate the hiring process for qualified candidates for open positions, collaborating with departmental managers to identify required skills and competencies.
  • Conduct or arrange background checks and verify employee eligibility.
  • Address employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, escalating complex matters as necessary.
  • Onboard new staff, including scheduling, reviewing benefits, and discussing key personnel policies.
  • Organize and manage job descriptions and announcements, ensuring all relevant documents are current.
Team Building and Organizational Culture
  • Collaborate with the Vice President of People and Culture to support and organize employee social events, such as staff outings and celebrations.
  • Design and manage special HR projects and initiatives across the organization.
  • Oversee professional development and compliance training programs for staff.
  • And other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 1 - 3 years of professional human resource management experience required.
  • SHRM-CP or PHR certification is a plus.
Position and Salary: This position is classified as an Admin II Specialist / Manager, with a salary range of $60,668 - $75,312 based on education and experience.
